Williams had a stellar career at King, scoring 1,444 points in his time on campus, a mark that was second all-time in school history at the time of his graduation. He became a starter midway through his freshman season where he averaged 15.1 points per game before pouring in 16.4 points per game during his sophomore campaign.

Playing for King Athletic Hall of Fame coach Al Nida, Williams helped lead King to their first Volunteer State Athletic Conference (VSAC) championship during his junior season where he averaged 18 points per game. He continued to improve as a senior, scoring 20 points per game, earning him All-VSAC honors.

Following his graduation, Williams coached junior high school in Knoxville before returning to King, becoming an assistant basketball coach and head golf coach for three years. He then went on to the head coaching position at Bearden High School in Knoxville for five years prior to entering the Service full-time. Williams retired as a Colonel from the U.S. Army after 30 years of service.
