Anthony was a four-year starter for the Tornado at third base. He led the team in home runs each year, hitting 10 as a freshman, 13 as a sophomore, eight as a junior and 17 as a senior for a career total of 48. The 17 home runs in a season and 48 in a career set the school record. He was a two-time NCCAA All-American, as a sophomore in 1988 and a senior in 1990. He helped lead the Tornado to two NCCAA national championships, coming 1987 and 1988. Both of those teams have been enshrined in the King Athletic Hall of Fame.

During his freshman year he played with his brother and fellow King Athletic Hall of Fame member Jeff Richardson. Jeff held the school record with 16 home runs in a season until Anthony hit 17 his senior season.

Anthony earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1990. He began teaching at Sullivan South High School in 2000 served as the head boys and girls golf coach from 2001-17. In 2013 the girls won the state championship and was selected state coach of the year while the boys finished state runner-up. He was the head baseball coach from 2003-21 and was selected conference coach of the year four times. He became the athletic director in 2008 and is currently the athletic director at West Ridge High School.
