Bill Berta was the center for the King men's basketball team from 1971-1975 and still has his name etched in the Tornado record books. His 28 rebounds against Emory & Henry during the 1972-73 season rank second in single game history. He ranks third in the same category for a 25-rebound performance against Maryville the following season. Berta also ranks first in school history with 449 rebounds during the 1972-73 campaign.

Berta has experienced considerable success off the basketball court as well. He double-majored in Economics and Business, earning his degree in 1975. He is a veteran of the sportswear industry. He previously served as the General Manager of Columbia Sportswear's Footwear Division and as CEO of Hi-Tec Sports USA. Berta is currently the National Sales Manager at Timberland Pro.

Berta and his wife Patricia have two children and reside in Vancouver, Wa.
