Head baseball coach Jerry opp coached the King College baseball team from 1981-88. During that time, he recorded 206 wins and 98 losses. Coach Opp was selected as the VSAC Coach of the Year in both 1986 and 1987. Opp was also selected as the NAIA District 24 Coach of the Year in 1986 and NCCAA National Coach of the Year in 1987 and 1988. Opp's 1988 team garnered a school record of 43 wins and his 1987 team was the first ever national champion in school history (NCCAA). He added another national championship in 1988. Coach Opp was able to put King College baseball on the map, by bringing a wealth of local talent putting together a nationally ranked program. Opp is now a beloved PA announcer in the area and also runs Opp and Associates, a local insurance consulting firm with his son.
