Tornado Esports Whirlwind

King University Call of Duty needed one win going into a double-header last week but fell in both matches by a heartbreaking 3-2 score. They faced Southwestern Assemblies of God in the first match followed by St. Mary’s University to finish the regular season 3-4.

King Esports FIFA has clawed their way back into contention with the ECAC as Erick Manirakiza and Austin Dohl-Pantaleo grab wins last week to solidify their playoff berths. After losing the first match against Lycoming College, Manirakiza won the second match in overtime and the third match by score 4-2 to complete an incredible comeback. Austin Dohl-Pantaleo cruised to victory against Averett University last week for qualification.

King University Overwatch continues to find success in the ECAC this semester. After finishing the season 6-1, including a six week win-streak, the Tornado looks at the number three seed moving into the playoffs. They will face Keuka College in the first round of the 32-team bracket next week.

King Rocket League traveled to the University of Kentucky this weekend to compete in the Bluegrass Boost Battle. They managed to remain unbeaten in the group phase, going 4-0 against the University of Tennessee, Cumberland University, Shawnee State and the University of Cincinnati. In day two they defeated the University of Kentucky to advance to the winner’s finals where they fell 4-3 to Purdue. After the close loss they faced the University of Tennessee where they would fall again by match score 4-1. UT went on to win the tournament and $1200 cash prize. 

With the regular season completed Matt Bilbruck, Will Leenen and Andrew Wade will face SUNY Polytechnic Institute next week for the first round of ECAC playoffs.

Matt Bilbruck, Jarrett Joles, Austin Dohl-Pantaleo, Colby Simone and Andrew Wade solidified their playoff appearance in week 7 with their 2-0 win against Bryant University. In week 8 they faced off with Loyola University Maryland where they would go down 2-0 and finish the regular season at an even 4-4. Next week they will face Husson University in the first round of ECAC playoffs.
