BRISTOL, Tenn. – In a gut-wrenching 3-2 victory decided by the final round of Search and Destroy, King University Call of Duty defeated Sam Houston State last night to win the PlayVs Open Conference title.
Chase Proffitt dropped 140 kills total in this matchup to lead King to their third PlayVs Open title in two years.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Proffitt had 40 kills in the first round of Hardpoint, including a surprising late flank resulting in a team wipe, enabling King to retake the point for the win.
- Kirk Rahill led the second round of Search and Destroy with 12 kills.
- Asmund Norum led the final round of Search and Destroy with 11 kills.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King took the first round of Hardpoint with a late play from Proffitt to win 250 – 161.
- Sam Houston showed a strong approach to Hacienda, taking the Search and Destroy by a close 6 – 5 score to tie the series 1 – 1.
- The Tornado responded with their own 3 – 1 win on Control, retaking the momentum moving into the next Hardpoint.
- However, the Bearkats again showed their poise at Hacienda, winning a nail-biting Hardpoint by score 250 – 234 to tie the series 2 – 2 and move into the final round of Search and Destroy.
- The final map was Protocol where King took the lead early but Sam Houston fought back to tie the score 5 – 5. In the final round Austin Mann, Norum, Proffitt and Rahill were able to hold the Bearkats from planting the bomb and took the PlayVs title.
