Bristol, Tenn. – The King University Outdoor Track and Field team hosted its 2
nd annual King Invitational over the past two days at home. On the first day, they honored the seniors of King Track and Field during their intermission. King was able to have multiple athletes have new personal bests with almost every event. King had someone break their personal best in almost every event.

Men's Track and Field Team:

The Men's Track and Field team finished the final day winning the whole meet in team scoring with a total of 175.5 points, with the next place team, Milligan, by 35.5 points. King had seven champions throughout the two days of competition.

Dominick Stevens stood tall for King, winning both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in personal bests for each of them. Stevens started the weekend with his prelims in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.39 seconds, with an impressive comeback in the finals, winning in a time of 10.43. He would later compete in the 200-meter dash, also winning in a time of 21.39, which was a meet record.

Thomas Grant led the way for the King 400-meter group, winning the meet and setting the new meet record in a 49.95-second 400-meter dash.
Braylon Hammond would get third place with a time of 50.00 flat.

Luke Childress was able to sneak into third place in the 5000-meter run with a season best of 18:12.05.

The one-two punch of
Evan Deichert and Joshua Hathaway in the 10,000-meter helped King win the meet, with Deichert crossing the finish line in 34:36.39 and Hathaway in 35:35.79.

Zach Stroin led the way in the throwing events for King with a throw of 49.29 meters (161' 08" ft) in the Javelin, which was good for second place.

Jude Dukes and Stevens were able to finish second and third, respectively, in the Long Jump with leaps of 7.11 meters (23' 04" ft) and 7.08 meters (23' 2.75" ft). Dukes came back in the Triple Jump, bonding a mark of 13.39 meters (43' 11.25" ft).
Bennett Simerlein was able to finish third with a jump of 12.50 meters (41' 0.25" ft).

Natan Rosson would finish second in the men's Pole Vault, clearing a height of 3.95 meters (12' 11.5" ft).

Noah Gilliam was able to set a new personal best in the Shot Put with a throw of 13.26 meters (43' 6.0" ft).

Women's Track and Field Team:

The Women's Track and Field team was able to show up strong as a team, finishing sixth place overall at the King Invite. Samay Armstead was able to lead the way for the Tornado with a personal best in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.39 seconds. She came back in the 200-meter dash in 26.10 seconds with another personal best. She also competed in the Long Jump, breaking the meet record and her own personal best with a jump of 5.40 meters (17' 8.75" ft).

Ermay Vazquez was able to put on a great performance in the 800-meter, finishing third with a time of 2:23.29.

Savannah Darnell competed over the past two days in the Heptathlon, finishing in second with 4275 points. Her best events came from the 200-meter dash, scoring 854 points, the 100-meter Hurdles, scoring 627 points, and the High Jump, scoring 666 points.
