King Battles as a Team and as Individuals for Points and Medals

The Track and Field team finishes the second day with new personal bests and multiple podium finishers

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The King University Outdoor Track and Field team finished the second day of competition with many new personal best times and marks, as well as many athletes finishing on the podium, scoring points. The Men's team currently sits in eighth place with 10 points, while the Women's team currently sits in sixth place with 20 points.
 
Men's Track and Field:
 
Nolen Carter, who finished the two days of the Decathlon, held onto his sixth-place spot and earned three points for the team after scoring 5736 points.
 
The duo of Dominick Stevens and Lynden Johnson repeated what they did in the 200-meter dash prelims, and both qualified in the 100-meter dash. Stevens qualified for the finals automatically by winning his heat in 10.39 seconds, which currently has him in fourth place. Johnson was able to qualify for the finals with his time of 10.48 seconds, which has him in sixth place.
 
Jude Dukes had an amazing jump of 7.22 meters (23' 8.25" ft) in the Long Jump to finish in third place for King, claiming six points for the team.
 
 
Women's Track and Field:
 
Savannah Darnell kept battling her way today through the final events of the Heptathlon with a strong finish in the last two days, holding on to her third-place spot, earning bronze with her final events placing no lower than fifth place today, allowing her to score 4335 points in the Heptathlon and score six points for King.
 
Caitlin Paulins had a strong day in the Pole Vault with a fourth-place finish and scoring five points with a final height of 3.14 meters (10' 3.5" ft).
 
Samaya Armstead came through in her Long Jump, finishing in third place, scoring six points, helping King with a personal best leap of 5.66 meters (18' 7" ft).  
 
Ermay Vazquez Adame competed in her first event of the weekend in the 800-meter prelims with a time of        2:26.36, which was good enough to qualify her for the finals tomorrow, currently ranked seventh.

Up Next: The Tornado will continue into the Final Day tomorrow morning at 10:00 am with the Women's Shot Put, Triple Jump, and Men's Javelin, while the track events will start at 11:00 am with the 4x100-meter relay.
