King Falls to Montevallo in Final Home Meet

The Tornado fell to Montevallo in the final home meet of the 2026 season

Bristol, Tenn. – The King University Acrobatics & Tumbling team hosted Montevallo on Monday evening, falling 252.180 to 238.285. Montevallo pulled away in the first half after a competitive start, outscoring King in each event to secure the victory.

King opened the meet in the Compulsory event, posting a total score of 35.50. The Tornado recorded scores of 8.60 in Acro, 9.65 in Pyramid, 9.10 in Toss, and 8.15 in Tumbling. Montevallo held a slight edge after the first event, leading 36.85 to 35.50.

In the Acro event, King totaled 26.45 points across the three heats. They scored 9.00 in the 5-Element heat, 8.35 in the 6-Element heat, and 9.10 in the 7-Element heat. Montevallo extended its lead with a 27.20 total in the event.

The Tornado continued into Pyramid, one of their stronger events of the day, finishing with a 27.55. King posted matching scores of 8.95 in the Inversion heat, followed by an 8.85 in the Synchronized heat, and closed with a strong 9.75 in the Open heat. Montevallo narrowly took the event with a 28.20.

After the halftime break, King entered the Toss event trailing but still within reach. The Tornado scored a 24.10 total, earning 7.75 in the 450 Salto, 7.80 in the Synchronized heat, and 8.55 in the Open heat. Montevallo capitalized here, widening the gap with a 26.70.

In the Tumbling event, King finished with a score of 46.625. Highlights included an 8.500 in the Duo pass and a 9.175 in the Aerial pass. Despite solid performances, Montevallo maintained control with a 48.600 total.

Heading into the Team event, King looked to close the gap but ultimately scored a 78.06, while Montevallo sealed the meet with an 84.63.

Montevallo led at the half, 92.25 to 89.50, and pulled away in the second half to secure the 252.180 to 238.285 victory.
