King Falls to Mars Hill at Home in a Nailbiter

The Tornado fell to Mars Hill at home in a nail-biter of a meet, coming down to the Team event.

Bristol, Tenn. – The King University Acrobatics and Tumbling team hosted Mars Hill for their second home meet this season, falling to Mars Hill in a close match-up, losing 254.150 to 246.385. This was the highest King has scored all season by more than 14 points. With such a close meet through the Toss event, King was only trailing 120.450 to 117.550.
 
The Tornado started the day in the Compulsory event, where they had all four heats with a start value of 10. They scored a 9.05 in the Acro Heat, a 9.45 in the Pyramid Heat, a 9.45 in the Toss Heat, and finished with an 8.55 in the Tumbling Heat. King was able to score one of the closest to their start value in the compulsory event with a 3.50 difference.
 
Going into the second event, which was Acro. King started with a total value of 29.95 for the three heats. They scored 8.90 in the first heat, which was a 5-Element. The next heat, which was 6-Element, 8.90. They then moved on to the 7-Element heat, where they scored an impressive 9.55. King and Mars Hill were 0.05 points away, with Mars Hill scoring 27.20 and King scoring 27.15.
 
The third event, Pyramid, saw King have a start value of 29.00, and Mars Hill with a 29.55. King made this event one of their best, with only a 0.90 score difference in total and start value. With scores of 9.05 in heat one Inversion, 9.10 in heat two Synchronized, and an almost perfect 9.95 in heat three Open, which was the highest scored single heat of the day for King.
 
After the break, King trailed 93.30 to 91.75 as they moved on to the fourth event, where King would have another strong event with Toss with a 1.60 point difference. King had a total start value of 27.40. They scored an 8.75, 7.85, and 9.20 in 450 Salto, Synchronized, and Open, respectively. Mars Hill would score a 27.15, and King would score a 25.80.
 
The fifth event was Tumbling, which King started with a value of 53.35, and Mars Hill had a value of 54.15. King was unable to cut into the lead, falling further behind, scoring 48.875 to Mars Hill's 49.650.
 
King came into the Team event with a start value of 93.06, and Mars Hill had one of 95.56. Mars Hill went first and had a strong performance, scoring an 84.05, while King scored a 79.96. Mars Hill would win the meet 254.150 to King's 246.385.
