Montreat, N.C. – The King University Outdoor Track and Field team competed at the Montreat Open invitational with a new school record set by
Dominick Stevens in the 100-meter dash. King was able to set new personal bests and had five people place in the top three through the two days of competition.

Men's Track and Field Team:

The Men's Track and Field team finished the Montreat Open with a new school record being set in the 100-meter dash by Stevens after his teammate
Lynden Johnson set it just last season. Stevens set the record and won the 100-meter dash in 10.48 seconds.

With a strong trio in the 400-meter dash of
Thomas Grant,
Braylon Hammond, and Niko Townsend, all ran personal bests. Hammond ran a 49.96, which was fast enough for fourth place, and Townsend was able to earn eighth place with a 50.64-second 400-meter. Grant won the top spot for the win today with a time of 48.98.

Spencer Utsey was able to show up for King in the 800-meter with a strong race, with a time of 1:58.89, earning sixth place.

In the 5000-meter,
Braydon Muhly was able to cross the finish line in seventh place in a time of 16:34.32.

On the field side,
Zach Stroin was able to throw the javelin an impressive 48.56 meters (159-04 ft), which was good for second place.

Day Two:
Â
Stevens took on the field side of events with the win in the Long Jump with a mark of 6.81 meters (22-04.25 ft).

Noah Gilliam was able to hit a new personal best in the shot put with a mark of 12.83 meters (42-01.25 ft), good to place ninth.
Â
In the Hammer Throw, Gilliam and
Jesse Owens both placed in the top eight. Gilliam placed third with a throw of 45.94 meters (150-08 ft), and Owens placed eighth with a mark of 42.54 meters (139-06 ft), which were both personal bests.

Kenyan Booker leaped to the sky with a second-place finish in the High Jump with a jump of 1.81 meters (5-11.25 ft).

Jude Dukes competed in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.63 meters (44-08.75 ft), earning himself a second-place finish.

Women's Track and Field Team:
Â
The Women's Track and Field team only saw the track on the first day, with the field athletes competing on the second day.
Â
Samaya Armstead had a strong head of steam to push herself to a personal best in the 400-meter dash with a sub-60-second time of 59.93 seconds. That time would be good for third place overall.
Â
Emily Ward was able to finish seventh overall in the 5000-meter with a personal best of 18:55.31.

Day Two:
Â
Rylee Durrence took on the Discus and the Shot Put on day two. In the Shot Put, she was able to finish with a mark of 8.36 meters (27-05.75 ft). In the discus, she was able to heave the disc 33.80 meters (110-10 ft), which earned her fourth place.

Keeyanah Foote was able to place sixth in the Triple Jump with a mark of 9.82 meters (32-02.75 ft).
