Kingsport, Tenn. – The King University Swimming and Diving team headed to the Conference Carolinas Championship to start day one. With many top finishes, both teams were able to score points on the first day. Men's swimming was able to finish the day at 91 points and in third place overall. Women's swimming was able to earn 61 points, putting themselves in fifth place heading into day two.

The women's 1000-yard freestyle started the day off for King with
Derin Yerlikaya and Isbella Monceaux, who were able to finish 12
th and 18
th, respectively. Yerlikaya was able to finish with a time of 11:34.95, and Monceaux was able to finish with a time of 12:35.90.

The men's 1000-yard freestyle saw Olive Toledo,
Evan Hayes, and
Aidan Clarke all compete in the event. Toledo led the way for the Tornado with the highest place finish of the day, with a second-place medal in a time of 9:37.87. Hayes would finish 11
th in 10:16.91, and Clarke would finish 17
th in 11:27.75.

The relays came next. The first King-dominated relay was the 200-yard medley relay, where King had
Cristobal Amiel,
Matthew Montenegro-Strunk,
Carlos Arias, and
Fabio Ricci, who are all underclassmen. They were able to just narrowly be out swam by Converse to earn second place in 1:31.17.

The women's 800-yard Freestyle Relay came next with
Alice Schoemans,
Katie Koenst,
Polly Lounsbury, and Yerlikaya. They were able to comfortably earn themselves a third-place spot, all earning bronze medals with a time of 8:02.23.

The men's 800-yard Freestyle Relay was the last event in the pool today. King had the team of Amiel, Toledo, Arias, and Ricci, all of whom had already done one even today, back in the water by this time. The men were able to earn another second-place finish for King and a silver with a time of 6:46.77.

King off to a great start on the first day of competition, looking to keep the pressure on and make a push for more top spots and possibly a team title.
