The King University Swimming & Diving teams delivered their strongest session yet on Day Three of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Championships, shattering multiple school records and stacking up podium finishes on both the men’s and women’s sides. KINGSPORT, Tenn. — The King University Swimming & Diving teams delivered their strongest session yet on Day Three of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Championships, shattering multiple school records and stacking up podium finishes on both the men's and women's sides. The Tornado continued to surge in the team standings as momentum builds toward the final day of competition.

Morning Session: Three School Records Fall

King opened the day with a statement, breaking three school records during prelims:

  • Cristobal Amiel — 50 Freestyle, 20.94 (new school record)
  • Carlos Arias — 50 Breaststroke, 25.89 (new school record)
  • Carlos Arias — 100 Breaststroke, 55.23 (new school record)

Arias' morning swim set up the possibility of lowering the 100 breaststroke mark again in finals — and he nearly did.

Women's Highlights

The women's team delivered two major performances and added more hardware to King's medal count.

Schoemans Breaks 400 IM Record, Takes Bronze

Alice Schoemans powered to a third-place finish in the 400 IM, breaking the school record with a time of 4:37.82. Her podium swim marked one of the top individual performances of the day.

Koenst Breaks 200 Breaststroke Record Twice

Katie Koenst made history of her own, breaking the 200 breaststroke school record twice — once in prelims and again in finals. Her new standard of 1:06.20 capped a remarkable day for the sophomore.

Men's Highlights

The men's team continued its strong championship run with multiple top-three finishes and another school record in the relays.

King placed two swimmers on the podium in the 200 free:

Their performances added crucial points and showcased King's depth in the middle-distance events.

Arias Sets Another Record, Takes Silver in the 100 Breaststroke

After breaking the school record in prelims, Carlos Arias returned at night to earn second place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.24, just off his morning mark.

Men's 400 Medley Relay Breaks School Record, Finishes Second

The final event of the night brought another highlight. The team of:

combined for a second-place finish and a new school record of 3:21.64.

The relay capped a dominant day for the men's squad, which continues to climb in the standings.

Conclusion

Day Three proved to be one of the most successful sessions in program history, with six school records, multiple podium finishes, and standout swims across the board. The Tornado enter the final day of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Championships with momentum, confidence, and a growing list of historic performances.
