GREENEVILLE, Tenn. –
Ricky Sexton and
Pedro Herrera both scored first half goals Saturday afternoon as the King University men's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over Tusculum in nonconference action. Sexton also had the lone assist on Herrera's goal, while
Gauthier Lumale made five saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It took under six minutes for King to find the back of the net, as Sexton found Herrera just 5:50 into the match, giving the Tornado an early 1-0 lead.
- Tusculum got a pair of shots off in the 14th minute, but one hit the post and the other was stopped by Lumale.
- Two minutes later, following a Tusculum corner kick, Lumale made a pair of consecutive saves to keep the Pioneers off the board.
- Sexton scored his first goal of the season in the 25th minute, with Anderson Moore getting the assist as the Tornado extended their lead to 2-0.
- After Tusculum got another corner kick in the 72nd minute, Lumale made another save, preserving the shutout.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- This was just the second time in recorded history that the Tornado have beaten the Pioneers. Their most recent win had been Sept. 18, 2019 when King won 3-2 in overtime on Parks Field. Coming into today, Tusculum had won the last two matchups.
- Sexton and Herrera both scored their first goals of the season, with Sexton adding an assist to his stat line.
- Lumale finished with five saves, and his second career shutout. His first came Sept. 24 of last year in a win over Carolina University.
FOR THE FOES
- Tusculum finished with six shots on goal, with six different Pioneers recording shots on goal.
- Mason Clark had a total of four shots, while Clarenns Sainrimat had two shots, one of which was on goal.
