Bristol, Tenn.- The King University men's soccer team dropped a closely contested home opener, falling 3-2 to Milligan University on Tuesday, September 1, at Parks Field.
After a scoreless first half, the match came to life in the second, with Milligan striking first and ultimately scoring three goals in the final 45 minutes. King fought back with two goals of their own, but a late push came up just short despite matching Milligan with 11 shots apiece on the afternoon.
Cian McGoey and
Valentin Kretschmer each found the back of the net for the Tornado, with
Harrison Reynolds picking up an assist.
Daniel Cavanaugh made four saves in goal to keep King within reach throughout the contest.
Both teams created chances as the match wore on, with King earning six corner kicks and Milligan five.
