Cleveland, Tenn.- The King University men's soccer team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Lee University in a defensive battle on Saturday, August 29, at Ray Conn Sports Complex in Cleveland, Tenn.
Lee broke through for the game's only goal in the first half and held on despite sustained pressure from King throughout the contest. The Tornado generated nine shots—five on target—but were unable to find the back of the net.
Daniel Cavanaugh stood tall in goal for King, making eight saves to keep the match within reach.
King's defense settled in after conceding early, and the Tornado earned six corner kicks to Lee's four, but a strong showing from Lee's goalkeeper denied several promising opportunities. The match featured physical play, with both sides combining for 25 fouls and eight yellow cards.
