King takes inaugural Conference Carolinas Rocket League crown

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University esports Rocket League team of Matthew Bilbruck, Will Leenen and Andrew Wade competed in the first-ever Conference Carolinas Rocket League tournament on Saturday. They completed the tournament without losing a single game and outscored opponents 60-5. Bilbruck accounted for 32 of the 60 goals the Tornado scored.

In the semifinals King met up with Barton College and took the first match by a score of 10-1. Bilbruck had seven goals and Wade had three tallies. The Tornado did not slowdown in game two as they won 12-0 with all three players scoring at least three goals. The final match in this best of five was a complete runaway as King finished the series with a 17-1 win. Bilbruck scored seven goals, Wade managed six and  Leenen added four.

The Tornado faced off with Belmont Abbey College in the finals. The Crusaders put up a great effort throughout the series, but King's relentless offense proved to be too fast as they swept the finals 3-0. King earned back-to-back 6-0 wins in the first two games of the championship round before claiming a 9-3 victory in the championship-clinching third game. King outscored Belmont Abbey 21-3 in the series and Bilbruck was responsible for 15 of the 21 goals.

King Rocket League will be back in action this Monday, NACE play.
