Three Tornado earn Conference Carolinas weekly honors

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Clathon Henfield, Ermay Vazquez Adame and Ruthie Fripp of the King University track and field teams have all been chosen as Conference Carolinas Athletes of the Week after their performances at the season-opening Bast-Cregger Invitational.

Henfield, a senior from Freeport, Grand Bahamas who was named Conference Carolinas Men's Field Athlete of the Week, was one of three Tornado to break the school record in the 300 meters, finishing in 35.82 seconds. He also took second in the long jump with a mark of 6.79 meters.

Vazquez Adame, a freshman from Commerce, Ga. who was named Conference Carolinas Women's Track Athlete of the Week, had a pair of wins over the weekend, while also setting a school record in the 1000 meters. In the event, she finished in 3:08.80, smashing the previous record by nearly 10 seconds. She also had a win in the 5000 meters, finishing in 19:12.31. In the 800 meters, she finished second, posting a time of 2:26.08.

Fripp, a senior from Watertown, Tenn. who was named Conference Carolinas Women's Field Athlete of the Week set a personal record in the weight throw, marking 13.94 meters to take fifth. She also marked 8.98 meters in the shot put.
