BRISTOL, Tenn. –The King University men's soccer team picked up their first win of the season Saturday afternoon, topping Emory & Henry College 2-0 in a nonconference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- King dominated the possession battle early, recording a shot and netting a pair of corner kicks in the first 10 minutes.
- The Tornado broke through for their first goal of the season in the 15th minute when Kenneth Walton took advantage of a Wasps turnover and converted for his second goal of the season, putting the Tornado up 1-0.
- 10 minutes later, Weston Joyner scored, taking a crossing pass from Marcell Szekeres and beating the opposing goalkeeper in the lower-right corner of the net to extend the King lead to 2-0.
- King would total five shots in the first half, three of which were on goal.
- Walton nearly picked up a second goal in the 55th minute, but his shot hit the right post.
- Despite controlling the half, King was unable to pick up a third goal, despite taking seven shots.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The goal scored by Joyner was the first of his King career.
- Walton's was his second of the season, and of his career. He finished with two shots in 83 minutes played.
- Collin Teperino and Jack Hyatt split the match in net, with neither one being forced to make a save.
FOR THE FOES
- Malolan Veeravalli had the lone shot on goal for the Wasps.
- Tyler Catron played the full 90 minutes in net, making two saves.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will turn to the start of conference play Wednesday, when they face Southern Wesleyan before returning home to face Francis Marion on Sept. 10.
- Emory & Henry will continue their road trip Wednesday, when they face Catawba in their first game in the South Atlantic Conference.
