CENTRAL, S.C. – The King University men's soccer team grabbed an early lead and received a pair of first half goals from
Weston Joyner. However, Southern Wesleyan University fought back and evened the score three times as the Conference Carolinas opener ended in a 3-3 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It didn't take long for the Tornado to get on the board as Joyner found the back of the net in the sixth minute.
- He had his first attempt blocked, but he collected the rebound and made a move to clear a defender and then put his shot between the goalkeeper and another defender to give King the lead.
- Southern Wesleyan evened the score in the 15th minute when Hykeem Martin slid his shot through the Tornado and into the net.
- Joyner struck again in the 34th minute as Erick Manirakiza played a cross from the right side to Joyner at the far post.
- Joyner the slid the ball into the open net, giving King the 2-1 lead.
- Southern Wesleyan outshot the tornado 10-7 in the opening half, including four shots on goal to King's two.
- Jack Hyatt came up with three saves for the Tornado in the first 45 minutes.
- Southern Wesleyan evened the score in the opening minute of the second half.
- King regained the lead in the 53rd minute when Kenneth Walton chipped a shot over the goalkeeper to put the Tornado ahead 3-2.
- The lead was short-lived, however, as Martin came down the right side and place his shot off the far post with his left foot, evening the score at three in the 55th minute.
- The Tornado had a few more chances but the Warriors defense came up with blocks, but the best chance may have come in the final minute.
- On the defensive end, the Tornado came up with many blocks as well, and Hyatt made three saves over the final 30 minutes to keep the Warriors off the board.
- Jamesy Costen ripped a shot, but it was just outside of the goal to the right as the game ended in a 3-3 draw.
