King bests CUW, earns third win of the season

MEQUON, Wis. – The King University acrobatics and tumbling team finished their spring break trip with a 2-1 record and matched last season's win total in the process on Wednesday evening. The Tornado defeated Concordia University of Wisconsin 257.080-239.970, matching their program best for wins in a season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • King grabbed a narrow 34.90-34.50 lead after the compulsory heat, but the Tornado matched a program best with a score of 9.90 points in the pyramid event.
  • The Tornado extended their lead over the Falcons with a score of 29.00 points in the acro event, coming within 0.10 points of their program best.
  • In the event, King matched a program high with 9.55 points in the third head.
  • King the posted two solid scores in the pyramid event, matching program bests that were set on Monday night in heat 2 and heat 3.
  • The Tornado scored 9.85 points in the second heat and 9.95 in the third heat, ending with a score of 29.45, extending their lead ever so slightly.
  • In the toss event, King posted a program best score of 9.55 points in heat 3, recording a score of 28.15 points in the event.
  • The Tornado then set three program bests in the tumbling event, scoring 8.800 points in the duo pass, 8.900 points in the ariel pass and 9.970 points in the open pass.
  • King closed the tumbling event with 49.000 points before scoring a season-best 86.58 points in the team routine.
  • The Tornado finished the event with 257.080 points, defeating the Falcons who tallied 239.970 points.

UP NEXT

  • King returns to action on March 19 when they travel to take on Gannon University and the University of Oregon in Erie, Pa. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
  • Concordia Wisconsin travels to Adrian College on March 20.
