Tornado fall to Oregon and Gannon

ERIE, Pa. – The King University acrobatics and tumbling team faced a pair of familiar foes on Saturday evening when they took on the University of Oregon and Gannon University. Oregon outscored the competition with a score of 282.030 points while Gannon posted 268.670 points and King posted 253.945 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the opening event, the compulsories, the Tornado set a program high with a toss score of 9.85 points.
  • King also matched a season best with a score of 8.25 in the tumbling heat, and finished with a compulsories score of 36.55, matching a season best.
  • However, the Tornado were in third behind Oregon's 39.25 and Gannon's 37.70 points.
  • The acro heat was close between the three schools with Gannon scoring 29.15 points to lead the group while the Ducks scored 28.80 and King at 28.70 points.
  • Oregon then posted the high score in the pyramid event with 29.75 points. Gannon followed with 29.40 points and King wasn't far behind at 29.35 points.
  • King then matched a season best in toss heat 2 with a score of 9.65 points. The Tornado finished second in the event with a score of 28.10 points behind Oregon's 29.35 points. The Golden Knights tallied 27.80 points in the event.
  • A pair of program highs fell in the tumbling event as King scored a program best 50.475 points in the event.
  • In the aerial pass, King scored 9.250 points and the Tornado posted another program best with a score of 9.725 points in the open pass.
  • As well as the Tornado did in the event, Oregon and Gannon both topped the Tornado. Oregon scored 58.050 points and Gannon checked in at 51.500 points.
  • King closed out the meet with a score of 80.77 in the team routine, finishing with a total of 253.945 points.
  • Oregon posted the hit point totals in the team routine at 96.83 and meet score with 282.030 points. Gannon came in next at 93.12 points in the team routine and 268.670 points in the meet.

UP NEXT

  • King closes the regular season on April 3 when they host Fairmont State University at 1:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex.
  • Oregon is in action again on March 22 at Fairmont State and Gannon next takes on Glenville State College on April 2.
