King falls to Baylor in NCATA Quaterfinals

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Competing at the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling (NCATA) National Championships for the second time in the two-year history of the program, the King University acrobatics and tumbling team faced a familiar foe in top seed Baylor University. The eight seeded Tornado hung with the Bears throughout the first half, but Baylor pulled away in the second stanza to take the contest 283.615-258.965.

Baylor (10-0) grabbed the lead from the lead from the onset, outscoring King 38.75-35.25 in the opening compulsory event. However, King (3-6) bounced back to score 28.40 in the acro event to makeup some ground as the Bears scored 27.85 in the event. In the final event before halftime, the pyramid event, King scored 28.80, but Baylor extended their lead with a score of 29.70 in the event. At the break, the Bears held a 96.30-92.45 lead.

Out of the break, the Bears started to pull away, outscoring King 28.60-26.55 in the toss event before stretching their lead to 182.525-169.075 following a score of 57.625 in the tumbling event while the Tornado scored 50.075 in the event. Baylor sealed the win with a score of 101.09 in the team routing while King scored 89.89 in the event. With that result, Baylor took the quarterfinal matchup 283.615-258.965, ending King's season.
