King drops regular season finale at Fairmont State

FAIRMONT, W.Va. – A day after competing in a tri meet, the King University acrobatics and tumbling team squared off with Fairmont State University. The Tornado stayed close until Fairmont State started to pull away after halftime taking the 263.135-250.240 victory.

The Fighting Falcons (4-3) grabbed the early lead, outscoring King 37.90-26.85 in the opening compulsory event. However, the Tornado (3-5) bounced back to take the acro heat, scoring 29.10 points to Fairmont State's 28.60. King again outscored Fairmont State in the pyramid head with their 28.75 points to the Fighting Falcons' 28.65. At halftime, the Tornado trailed the Fighting Falcons 95.15-94.70.

Coming out of the break, Fairmont State extended their lead in the tumbling event with a score of 27.70 while the Tornado posted a score of 25.40. The lead continued to grow in the tumbling event as King posted a score of 47.050, and the Fighting Falcons scored 50.725, opening up a 173.575-167.15 lead going into the final event.

The Tornado started the team routine with a score of 83.09 while Fairmont State scored 89.56 in the team routine, taking the meet 263.135-250.240.

The top eight teams will qualify for the National Collegiate Acrobatics and Tumbling Association (NCATA) National Championships that are slated for April 23-25 in Fairmont, W.Va. King was ranked eighth in the last NCATA rankings and will have to wait and see if they get selected into the field for the national championships.
