Tornado fall to Alderson Broaddus, Quinnipiac

PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The King University acrobatics and tumbling team returned to the mat on Saturday when they faced Alderson Broaddus University and Quinnipiac University. The Tornado got off to a slow start, and couldn't get come back as they totaled 246.490 points, falling to Alderson Broaddus' 264.875 and Quinnipiac's 269.830 totals.

King (3-5) started the meet with a score of 34.95 in the compulsory event, but Quinnipiac scored 37.85 and Alderson Broaddus scored 37.00 points to pull ahead of the Tornado. King then outscored Alderson Broaddus 28.55-28.05 in the acro event as Quinnipiac extended their lead with 28.84 points. The pyramid head was tight as Quinnipiac scored 29.35 points and Alderson Broaddus totaled to 29.25 points. King rounded out the event with a score of 29.05.

Alderson Broaddus (5-4) and Quinnipiac (4-3) extended their leads in the toss and tumbling events. The Battlers scored 27.00 in the toss event and 51.225 in the tumbling event while Quinnipiac scored 27.90 points in the toss and 54.100 in the tumbling event, respectively. King scored 24.55 in the toss event and followed that with 47.800 in the tumbling event.

The meet concluded with the team routing where King posted a score of 81.59 while Quinnipiac scored 91.79 and Alderson Broaddus posted a score of 92.35. In total, the Tornado scored 246.490 points while Alderson Broaddus came in second at 264.875 and Quinnipiac defeated both teams with a total of 269.830.

King will be in action again on Sunday when they take on Fairmont State University. The meet is slated to start at 2:00 p.m. in Fairmont, W.Va.
