MISENHEIMER, N.C. – The King University men's swimming and diving team opened the 2014-15 season at the Conference Carolinas Meet, that featured all relay races. The Tornado finished fourth in a field that included Limestone College, Pfeiffer University and Emmanuel College.
The quartet of Bryan Stroinski, Nicholas Piumelli, Justin Reeves and Jacob Morales started the day with a six place finish in the 200 yard medley with a time of 1:49.73. In the next event, the trio of Piumelli, Reeves and Tyler McBee came in with a sixth place finish in the 300 yard breaststroke relay. Quenton Lyons, McBee, Piumelli and Reeves then teamed up for the 800 yard freestyle relay where they took fourth with a time of 8:24.11.
King continued to perform well in the final three freestyle relay races, starting with Morales, Stroinski, Lyons and Reeves taking fifth with a time of 4:49.58. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Morales, Stroinski, Piumelli and Reeves finished in 1:39.39 to take sixth before Lyons, Piumelli, Stroinski and Reeves finished the 400 yard freestyle in 3:38.27 to take fifth.
King finished fourth behind Limestone, Pfeiffer and Emmanuel with 20 points. Limestone won with 218 points while Pfeiffer took second at 132 with Emmanuel in third at 60 points.
King will be in action again on Saturday, October 4 when they travel to the University of the Cumberlands. The meet in Williamsburg, Kentucky is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
