MONTGOMERY, W.Va. – Swimming in the their second meet in less than 24 hours, the King University men's swimming and diving team fell at West Virginia University Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Bears outscored the Tornado 92-68 to take the meet.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Reynold Thibideau, Nicholas Piumelli, Justin Reeves and Tyler Brewster kicked things off for the Tornado, posting a time of 1:48.60. A night after setting a personal best in the 1,000 yard freestyle, Tyler McBee posted a time of 12:12.12 in the same event on Saturday. Quenton Lyons and Piumelli both swam in the 200 yard freestyle, posting times of 2:01.54 and 2:03.63, respectively.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Brewster finished second with a time of 24.07 seconds while Lucas Marodin came in with a time of 25.01 seconds. Jacob Morales posted a 100 yard butterfly time of 1:05.16 while Brewster and Marodin finished 1-2 in the 100 yard freestyle. Brewster clocked a time of 52.37 to finish first and Marodin finished in 55.93 to take second.
Thibideau finished the 100 yard backstroke in 1:04.09, and Austen Jameson clocked a time of 5:38.99 in the 500 yard freestyle. Piumelli and Lyons capped the individual events with 100 yard breaststroke times of 1:05.94 and 1:13.07, respectively. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Marodin, Morales, Bryan Stroinski and McBee closed the meet with a time of 1:40.51.
King will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to Emmanuel College. The meet is scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m., in Franklin Springs, Ga.
