King Falls in Both Games on the Road

The Tornado fell in both of its non-conference games this afternoon

| Box Score 2 Lebanon, Tenn. The King University Flag Football team played Cumberland University for their first three-team game day, where King would fall to Cumberland and Huntington in two close games.
 
Cumberland University:
 
Cumberland would come out of the gates hot, scoring 13 points in the first quarter, leading to the second, where no one would be able to score. King would put its first point on the board in the third, scoring six and doing the same again in the fourth quarter, with a final score of 26-12, falling to Cumberland.
 
Some key players for King saw starting quarterback Samantha Lee take snaps, throwing for 181 yards on 19 completions of 36 attempts, with two touchdowns, and added another 29 yards on her feet, running the ball.
 
Alyssa Ramos again dominated both sides of the ball for King with 89 yards receiving on seven receptions while adding a touchdown for herself. She was also able to be a strong force on the defensive side of the ball, having seven tackles with two interceptions and another two breakups.
 
Caroline Small was all over the defense this game with 15 tackles, the most on the team by far, as well as a tackle for loss.
 
Jadee Salvador was able to make an impact on the offensive side of the ball with five receptions for 40 yards and getting into the endzone for a touchdown.
 
Nyja Arnold was able to grab two sacks of her own with four tackles on the day.
 
Huntingdon College:
 
King was unable to get the offense moving against Huntingdon, as King was only able to score six points in the first half, to be down only seven going into halftime. Huntingdon would then score 12 points in the third and 14 in the fourth quarter. Making the final score, Huntingdon 39, King 6.
 
The Tornado on the offensive side of the ball was not able to get anything going, with Lee getting sacked six times while attempting to pass 31 times and completing on 14 of them. She was able to pass for 104 yards and one touchdown.
 
The receiving room had three different athletes contribute heavily, with Salvador receiving five catches for 37 yards and one touchdown. Jocelyn Kolozsy was able to make an impact with four catches and 31 yards on her own, with her longest being 20 yards. Ramos was able to add three more receptions to her growing season total with 15 yards for the game.
 
Small again led the defense with a strong showing of 11 tackles to hold back the Huntingdon offense.
 
Ramos, Faith Carter, and Hailey Mescall all had one interception each. Arnold got herself another sack and a tackle for a loss.
 
Up Next: The Tornado will come home for the first-ever Flag Football game at King University on Saturday, March 14th, starting at 12:30 pm against Lees-McRae and Wingate.
