Barkley named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Alex Barkley of the King University men's volleyball team has been chosen as the Conference Carolinas men's volleyball player of the week, the first time in his career that he has earned a weekly honor from the conference office.

Barkley, a freshman from Camby, Ind., started all three sets Saturday in a nonconference sweep over Talladega College, finishing with a career-high 16 kills, along with one set assist, a service ace, and three digs.

On the season, Barkley has appeared in 13 matches for the Tornado, averaging 1.66 kills per set. In addition to his 16 kills against the Tornadoes, he had a 10 kill performance Jan. 18 against Tusculum.

King will look to extend their winning streak with three matches this week, starting Tuesday when they host Lincoln Memorial University, with first serve from inside the Student Center Complex scheduled for 6 p.m.
