BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Gideon Bezuidenhout and
Sam Osowiecki of the King University men's swimming team, as well as
Abbie Erme,
Gwen Haag and
Michelle Morlock of the King University women's swimming team, have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams.
Bezuidenhout, a junior from Wake Forest, N.C. who is majoring in Physics, was a finalist in the 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard IM at the Conference Carolinas championships, finishing fourth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.59 before placing seventh in the 200 yard IM, setting a personal record with a time of 1:54.20.
Osowiecki, a sophomore from Thomaston, Conn. who is majoring in Security and Intelligence, is a three-time Conference Carolinas Championships finals qualifier. He was named third-team All-Conference Carolinas in the 1000 yard freestyle after setting a personal record of 9:56.45, while also placing sixth in the 100 yard backstroke with a season-best time of 53.15 seconds and seventh in the 200 yard backstroke with a season-best time of 1:57.08.
Haag, a senior from Katy, Texas who is majoring in Exercise Science – K-12 Licensure Track, placed 12th in the 100 yard breaststroke at the Conference Carolinas championships with a time of 1:09.66. She also had a 12th-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke, with a time of 2:38.42. Haag also volunteers for many different organizations in Bristol, including the Boys & Girls Club.
Morlock, a senior from Burbank, Calif. who is majoring in Criminal Justice, was a member of the 400 yard relay team that took fifth place at the Conference Carolinas championships. She also had a 16th-place finish in the 100 yard freestyle. In addition, she volunteers with Project Hero.
Erme, a junior from Boiling Springs, Pa. who is majoring in Psychology and Communications, is a two-time Conference Carolinas Championship finalist, placing 9th in the 200 yard breaststroke, setting a PR time of 2:29.26. She also had a 10th-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, with another personal record time of 1:07.46. She also set a PR in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing in 5:55.30.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All- America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
