Tornado place fifth at Conference Carolinas championships

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The King University women's swimming team placed fifth at the Conference Carolinas championships, with numerous school records falling over the course of the four-day event.

HOW IT HAPPENED - SATURDAY

• Cassie Lowe placed second in the 200 yard backstroke, with a school record time of 2:04.98.
• In the 200 yard butterfly, Reese Lauletta took sixth, with a time of 2:17.27 and Lynsey Knox finished 15th in 2:50.11.
• Fanny Legros finished sixth in the 1650 yard freestyle, touching the wall in 18:18.33.
• The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Lowe, Michelle Morlock, Samantha Davis and Madi Matthews took fifth, with a finals time of 3:38.54.
• In the 200 yard breaststroke, Abbie Erme finished ninth and Gwen Haag finished 12th with times of 2;29.26 and 2:38.42, respectively.
• In the 100 yard freestyle, Matthews finished eighth while Elizabeth Rehkopf and Morlock finished 14th and 16th, respectively. Matthews touched the wall in 54.01 seconds while Rehkopf came in at 56.09 seconds and Morlock in 56.71 seconds.

HOW IT HAPPENED - FRIDAY

• Abbie Erme placed 10th in the 100 yard breaststroke, setting a new school record of 1:07.46
• After setting a school record in the prelims, Cassie Lowe broke that record in the finals, with a time of 58.28 second sto take third in the 100 yard backstroke.
• The 400 yard medley relay team consisting of Lowe, Erme, Lauletta and Matthews placed 5th, setting a new school record of 4:00.34.

HOW IT HAPPENED - THURSDAY

• In the 500 yard freestyle final, Lowe finished in 5:09.60 to finish third.
• Reese Lauletta finished 15th in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.52.
• In the 50 yard freestyle, Madi Matthews touched the wall in 24.54 seconds to take seventh.
• The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Lowe, Samantha Davis, Elizabeth Rehkopf and Matthews finished fifth with a time of 1:39.59.

HOW IT HAPPENED - WEDNESDAY

• The 800 yard freestyle relay team consisting of Fanny Legros, Reese Lauletta, Elizabeth Rehkopf and Cassie Lowe set a school record, finishing in 8:03.55 to place fifth.
• In the 1000 yard freestyle, Legros placed fifth, with a time of 11:02.06. 
• The 200 yard medley relay team consisting of Samantha Davis, Abbie Erme, Michelle Morlock and Madi Matthews placed seventh, with a time of 1:52.39.
