MARS HILL, N.C. – The King University women's swim team opened their season at a tri-meet against Mars Hill and Lenoir-Rhyne.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 200-yard medley relay team of Abigail Hogben, Alice Schoemans, Katie Koenst, and Cassie Lowe finished in second place with a time of 1:58.55. Arantza Viera, Jordan Houck, Michelle Vazquez, and Polly Lounsbury finished two seconds later for a third place finish.
- Lowe finished the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:22 even to win the event. Her teammate Derin Yerlikaya touched the wall third at 11:41.74.
- In the 500-yard freestyle, Yerlikaya took third with a time of 5:46.74 edging out Reese Lauletta who finished at 5:47.41.
- Lounsbury made her college debut with a fourth place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.75.
- Koenst finished the 100-yard freestyle in 57.18 seconds for a third place finish and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:23.52 for a fourth place finish.
- Hogben and Viera took third and fourth place respectively in the 100-yard backstroke with times of 1:04.51 and 1:05.91
- Yerlikaya, Avery Banes, Lauletta, and Lowe closed the meet with a third place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a total time of 1:48.02.
