EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The second-ranked King University women's wrestling team opened their season with a solid showing at the East Stroudsburg Open on Saturday. The Tornado had 10 individuals place, including four champions.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In her first collegiate matches, Mia Zuniga went 3-0 to take the title at 101 pounds.
- She pinned Alexis Dobson of New England College in 1:45, Aaliyah Payne-Parris of Sacred Heard University in 1:00 before defeating East Stroudsburg's Olivia Klein on a 10-0 technical fall to take the title.
- Also at 101 pounds, eighth-ranked Avery Kibelbek finished third with a pair of wins.
- She topped Nevaeh Blevins of Alvernia University on a 10-0 technical fall before falling to Klein. Kibelbek then capped the day with a 12-2 technical fall victory over Payne-Parris to take third.
- At 109 pounds, Alyssa Guardiola finished third with three wins on the day. She earned pins over Sacred Heat's Taylor McCormick 54 seconds and Tiffany Stoshak of Wyoming Seminary in 1:26.
- Following a defeat, she defeated Tian Savino of East Stroudsburg on criteria 4-4.
- Fourth-ranked Melanie Mendoza finished runner-up at 116 pounds going 3-1 on the day. She pinned East Stroudsburg's Alanna Barberio in 1:04 before back-to-back technical fall victories over Sacred Heat's Valerie Turgeon 10-0 and 12-0 over sixth-ranked Emily Klein of East Stroudsburg before falling in the final.
- At 123 pounds, the Tornado had both finalists as Virginia Foard pinned fourth-ranked Montana DeLawder in 3:34 to take the crown.
- Foard started her day with a 14-0 technical fall victory over East Stroudsburg's second-ranked Mia Macaluso.
- She then took a 6-0 win over Carmela Cancelmo of East Stroudsburg before topping Sierra Cheisa 4-1 to reach the final.
- DeLawder took a 13-0 technical fall win over Victoria Orender of Western New England University and followed it with a 2:41 pin of Gannon University's Jayden Bazemore.
- She then reached the final with a 13-3 technical fall win over Sacred Heart's eighth-ranked Alexandra Fitzgerald.
- At 130 pounds, third-ranked Victoria Baez-Dilone took the crown with four straight wins, including three 10-0 technical falls.
- She opened with a 10-0 win over Gianna Amendola of East Stroudsburg before pinning Baley Trang of Sacred Heart in 1:55. She closed with 10-0 wins over Hannah Lawrence and Tiana McGowen of Wyoming Seminary.
- Also at 130 pounds Anna DiCugno came in fifth going 4-1 on the day. She started with a 57-second pin of East Stroudsburg's Cadence Howard before falling to McGowan.
- She then closed with a three straight pins, in 51 seconds over Amendola, in 2:47 over Ruth Ansah of East Stroudsburg and in 1:40 over Trang to take fifth.
- Seventh-ranked Claire DiCugno took the title at 136 pounds with four wins, two by technical fall.
- She opened with a 10-0 win over Calista Gibson of Lincoln Memorial University and followed that with a 1:04 pin of Gannon's Katie Palmer. Following a 10-0 win over Veronica Whitacre of Sacred Heart, C. DiCugno took the title with a 2:05 pin of Isis France of Wyoming Seminary.
- Alexa Garcia went 4-1 at 191 pounds to take fifth after dropping her first match of the day.
- She fought back with four straight pins, starting with a 37-second pin of Catherine Dutton of Frostburg State University.
- Garcia followed that with pins over Arianna Xavier of Cape Verde in 41 seconds and over Jacklyn Smith of Sacred Heart in 5:04 before taking the fifth-place with a 59-second pin of Zoe Waters of New England College.
