Franklin Springs, Ga.– The King University Women's Wrestling team competed in the final day of two of the NCAA Women's Wrestling Regional tournament. King took home three weight class champions with victories at 124 with
Virginia Foard, 138 with
Ruby Julien-Newsom, and at 160 with
Stella Steigler.
The Tornado went into the final day with six podium finishers over the two days.
Foard, at the lowest weight class for the King Champions, battled her way through four matches. She was able to win all of them by fall or tech fall. In her opening match, she won by tech fall in just 34 seconds. She then would go on to win by pin in her next two matches in 15 seconds and 2:13, respectively. She became the 2026 Region 3 champion at 124 with her final tech fall of the weekend in 3:18, winning 10-0.
Julien-Newsom won in perfect fashion, not letting one match go out of the first period and winning by fall in all of them. She won in 9 seconds, 2:19, 10 seconds, and 49 seconds on her way to the crown.
Steigler was given a bye through the first round with her ranking at the 160 weight. She would win her first match by fall in 1:10 to help her move onto the next round. In the second round, she was in a battle to earn the tech fall before the match finished, winning 11-0 at 5:54, with just 6 seconds left. The final match went the whole time, with her winning by decision 3-1, declaring herself champion.
Avery Kibelbek was able to earn herself a runner-up spot, winning her first two matches by pin in 4:34 and 3:41, respectively. She would lose the finals match by pin.
