Efe Ertuzun of the King University men's swimming team has been chosen as the Conference Carolinas men's swimmer of the week after breaking a school record at the season-opening King Invitational.
Ertuzun, a freshman from Ismir, Turkey, broke the school record in the 100 meter individual medley, touching the wall in 52.16 seconds, breaking the previous record, which was held by current head coach Juan Somoza. He also had a second-place finish in the 200 yard individual medley, finishing in 1:57.92. He rounded out the event with a fifth-place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:01.18.
The Tornado will be back in the pool Oct. 13 when they host Emory & Henry College and Lees-McRae College at Tennessee HS. The event is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
