HICKORY, N.C. – In their first competition this semester, the King University men's swimming team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne University on Saturday afternoon. The meet was tight, but King was edged by the Bears 118-115.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado started with a win in the 400 yard medley relay as the team of Sam Osowiecki, Kessler Dayton, Gideon Bezuidenhout and Jan Kuljak finished in 3:37.17.
- Bezuidenhout won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.01.
- Also in the 200 yard freestyle, Taylor Apps finished third in 1:59.29 and Bruno Zagolin took fourth in 2:00.00.
- Osowiecki and Haakon Meyer finished second and third in the 50 yard backstroke with times of 25.87 and 26.41 seconds, respectively.
- King finished second and third in the 50 yard backstroke as well with Dayton finishing runner-up in 27.21 seconds and Carson Eliasen taking third in 28.76 seconds.
- Caelan Sutton won the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.99 seconds.
- Luke Hunt won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.69 seconds with Kuljak finishing second at 22.77 seconds.
- Meyer came in fourth with a time of 23.39 seconds.
- Bezuidenhout came in third in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.01 seconds. Sutton came in sixth at 52.87 seconds and Hunt came in seventh at 54.29 seconds.
- Osowiecki won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.86 seconds.
- The Tornado finished 1-2 in the 100 yard breaststroke as Dayton came in first with a time of 1:00.49 while Eliasen finished runner-up at 1:03.08.
- Apps touched the wall in 1:07.18 to finish fourth.
- Kuljak won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:07.96 while Osowiecki finished runner-up in 5:16.50.
- Meyer finished the 50 yard butterfly in 25.34 seconds to finish third.
- Bezuidenhout finished third in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 55.75 seconds.
- The Tornado group of Meyer, Dayton, Sutton and Kuljak finished second with a 400 yard freestyle relay time of 3:20.61.

- King competes at home on Friday against Emory & Henry College. The senior night meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. at Tennessee High School.
- Lenoir-Rhyne is in action again in February 8-11 at the South Atlantic Conference Championships.
