ADRIAN, Mich. – The top-ranked King University women's wrestling team finished runner-up National College Women's Wrestling Coalition (NCWWC) National Championships for the second straight season. The Tornado had 12 individuals earn All-America honors while
Ashlynn Ortega won her first career national title.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SATURDAY
- At 143 pounds, Ortega earned a 3-0 victory over top ranked Alara Boyd of McKendree University to take her first career title.
- Three Tornado finished third, Samara Chavez, Sage Mortimer and Ana Luciano.
- At 109 pounds, Chavez defeated teammate Danielle Garcia in the consolation semifinals before topping fourth-ranked Natalie Reyna of McKendree 11-6 for her third-place finish.
- At 116 pounds, Mortimer too an 11-0 technical fall over sixth-ranked Kendra Ryan of North Central College before pinning third-ranked Jaslynn Gallegos of Presbyterian College to take third.
- Luciano pinned seventh-ranked Holly Beaudoin of Colorado Mesa University before taking a 9-4 decision over fourth-ranked Skye Realin of McKendree to finish third.
- Jaclyn McNichols and Nia Crosdale each reached the third-place bout, but each finished fourth.
- McNichols took a 5-0 win over fifth-ranked Sam Miller of Presbyterian before falling to third-ranked Lizzette Rodriguez 4-1 in the third-place match.
- Crosdale defeated fourth-ranked Cristina Santoyo of Emmanuel College 4-3 to reach the third-place bout but fell to Colorado Mesa's Jayleen Sekona 4-1.
- At 170 pounds, Chey Bowman bounced back after a loss to sixth-ranked Grace Kristoff to defeat fifth-ranked Jade Herzer of UW-Stevens point 3-0 to take fifth.
- Garcia came back to pin third-ranked Alexia Seal of Simon Fraser University to take fifth at 109 pounds.
- Melanie Mendoza finished sixth at 123 pounds, earning All-America honors after falling to a pair of ranked competitors on Saturday.
- Montana DeLawder defeated seventh-ranked Anya Knappenberger of Gannon University 13-4 to finish seventh at 130 pounds.
- At 155 pounds, Tiffani Baublitz pinned sixth-ranked Skylah Chakouian of Elmira College to finish seventh.
HOW IT HAPPENED - FRIDAY
- Cheyenne Sisenstein is in search of repeating as a national champion at 123 pounds as she reached the final with three wins on Friday.
- Sisenstein is ranked third and defeated sixth-ranked Asia Nguyen-Smith of North Central College in the quarterfinal on a 7-6 decision before earning a 10-0 technical fall over teammate and seventh-ranked Melanie Mendoza in the semifinal.
- She will face top-ranked Alex Hedrick of Simon Fraser University in the title bout.
- Ashlynn Ortega is in the final at 143 as she will face top-ranked Alara Boyd of McKendree University in Saturday championship.
- Ranked second, Ortega defeated sixth-ranked Avia Bibeau of East Stroudsburg University on a 10-0 technical fall in the semifinals.
- Eight Tornado will start Saturday in the consolation semifinals, starting with second-ranked Jaclyn McNichols at 101 pounds. She will face fifth-ranked Samantha Miller of Presbyterian College.
- McNichols earned a 3-0 decision over seventh-ranked Brooke Thurber of UW-Stevens Point to reach the semifinals, but then fell to sixth-ranked Angelina Gomez 3-1.
- At 109 pounds, second-ranked Samara Chavez will face teammate Danielle Garcia in a consolation semifinal.
- Chavez topped Julianne Moccia of Gannon University on a 12-2 technical fall reach the semifinals but fell to fifth-ranked Sydney Petzinger of North Central College 12-7.
- Garcia started with a pin of eighth ranked Isabella Frezzo of New Jersey City University and reached the quarterfinals before falling to top-ranked Emily Shilson of Augsburg University.
- Garcia the won two consolation matches to reach the semfinals.
- Ranked fourth at 116 pounds, Sage Mortimer opened with a technical fall before pinning Gabriela Ramos Diaz of Limestone University in a semifinal. However, she fell to top-ranked Karla Godinez-Gonzalez of Simon Fraser University 6-2.
- Mortimer will face sixth-ranked Kendra Ryan of North Central to start Saturday.
- Mendoza reached the semifinals with a 3-1 decision over second-ranked Marissa Gallegos of Colorado Mesa University before falling to Sisenstein.
- Montana DeLawder, who is ranked first at 130 pounds will face seventh-ranked Anya Knappenberger on Saturday in the seventh-place match.
- DeLawder opened with a pair of pins before falling 9-4 to eighth-ranked Niya Gaines of North Central in a quarterfinal. Following a 12-3 win, DeLawder dropped a 12-11 decision to East Stroudsburg's Mia Macaluso, dropping her to the seventh-place match.
- Ranked first at 136 pounds, Ana Luciano started the day with a technical fall win and a pin to reach the semifinals.
- However, she fell 8-7 to fifth-ranked Nina Makem of Augsburg. Luciano will face Holly Beaudoin of Colorado Mesa in a consolation semifinal on Saturday.
- Fifth-ranked at 155 pounds, Tiffani Baublitz will take on sixth-ranked Skylah Chakouian of Elmia College in Saturday's seventh-place match.
- Baublitz reached the quarterfinals before falling to fourth-ranked Tiera Jimerson of North Central. Following another win, she fell to eighth-ranked Taylor Hites of Tiffin University.
- Top-ranked Chey Bowman started her day with a pin and technical fall to reach the quarterfinals at 170 pounds. She then pinned eighth-ranked Tatum Heikkila of Colorado Mesa in 4:43 to reach the semifinals.
- However, she fell to fourth-ranked Joye Levendusky of McKendree University 6-4 and will face sixth-ranked Grace Kristoff of McKendree in Saturday's consolation semifinal.
- At 191 pounds, third-ranked Nia Crosdale will face fourth-ranked Cristina Santoyo of Emmanuel College in a consolation semifinal.
- Crosdale split her first two matches before earning a 12-0 technical fall over Kaycee Fitero of Lindenwood University. She then defeated seventh-ranked Journey Land of Limestone University to reach the consolation semifinals.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- King has had at least 10 All-Americans each of the last three years and one national champion each of the last two.
- McNichols, Sisenstein, Luciano Ortega and Crosdale earn All-America honors for the fourth time in their careers.
- King now has 15 four-time All-Americans in program history.
- Head coach Jason Moorman was selected NCWWC National Coach of the Year.
