BRISTOL, Tenn. – Three King University cross country runners have been recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their work in the class room.
Josh Booher,
Ashley Doyle and
Chloe Wade were all named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
Booher ran in all five meets for the Tornado, setting 8k and 10k personal records. The junior is majoring in accounting and set his 8k personal record with a time of 25:33.0 at the Royals Invitational. At the NCAA Southeast Regional, he ran a 10k personal-best time of 34:18.1.
For the women, freshmen Doyle and Wade earn the honor for the first time as well. The duo each earned All-Conference Carolinas honors, helping lead the Tornado to the Conference Carolinas championship.
Doyle ran in all five races, improving her time in each as she ran a 6k personal best 24:19.5 at the NCAA Southeast Regional. She finished 10th at the Conference Carolinas Championship, earning her second team all-conference honors with a 6k time of 24:29.2. Her 5k personal best time of 19:44.2 came at the Royals Challenge.
Wade, who is majoring in nursing, ran in three races, setting her 5k personal record of 18:37.36 at her season debut, the Queen City Invitational. She earned first team all-conference honors, finishing fifth at the conference championship with a 6k time of 23:27.5. At the NCAA Southeast Regional she finished with a 6k personal record time of 22:53.7
