BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Dale Bruce of the King University men's swimming team and
Samantha Davis of the King University women's swimming team have been chosen as the Conference Carolinas men's and women's swimmers of the week after their performances last week at Emory & Henry.
Bruce, a senior from Zimbabwe, swam in three events, helping the 200 meter relay team to a win, swimming his leg in 27.57 seconds. He also picked up a win in the 200 meter IM, which he swam in 2:16.97. He rounded out the event with a second-place finish in the 100 meter backstroke, finishing in 1:02.95. This is the second time in his career that he has been named conference swimmer of the week.
Davis, a senior from Oneonta, Ala., also swam in three events at Emory & Henry, helping the Tornado 200 meter medley relay team to a win before claiming a win in the 100 meter backstroke with a time of 1:16.74. She also finished fifth in the 50 meter freestyle. This is her first time receiving a weekly honor from the conference office.
Both Tornado swimming teams will be in action this weekend when they compete at the Bulldog Invitational, hosted by Union (Ky.). The three-day event starts Friday morning.
