BRISTOL, Tenn. – Two members of the King University men's soccer team were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches when they announced their Scholar All-Region honorees.
Ben Delisle and
Dalton Gammon were both recognized.
It is believed that Delisle and Gammon are the first two individuals to earn United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Region. Both Delisle and Gammon majored in Business and were named to the Dean's List.
Gammon, a native of Valrico, Fla., led Conference Carolinas with 48 saves and record one shutout. Gammon averaged 6.00 saves per game, ranking him ninth in NCAA Division II and second in the league while his 1.366 goals against average, ranked him in fifth in the league. He also posted a save percentage of .814, ranking him third in the league and 21st in the country.
This season, Delisle, a native of Montreal, Quebec scored three goals and added two assists before having his season cut short due to injury. In his career, Delisle is King's all-time leader in the NCAA Division II era (since 2011) with 61 points, 27 goals and eight game-winning goals.
To be eligible for Scholar All-Region recognition, student-athletes must meet the following criteria:
- 3.40 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) or better throughout career
- Started more than 50 percent of all games and significantly contribute to their team
- Nominated by head coach of current College Services member institution
- Junior or above in academic standing; and, if a transfer student, in second year at school
