Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following Friday night's contest, the King University men's volleyball team is 2-0 for the first time in program history. It didn't come easy as the Tornado had to comeback in the second set, but ultimately took the contest 3-0 behind a stellar night from Jon Wheaton.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wheaton sparked the Tornado offense in the first set with a kill. Nick Drooker ended the 5-0 spurt that gave King separation at 14-9 in the first.
- King extended their lead to 22-15 before Wheaton gave King the first set at 25-18 with his fourth kill of the set.
- The Golden Eagles held the advantage for the majority of the second set and forced a Tornado timeout leading 16-12.
- The Tornado trailed 21-16 before they started to work their way back. Wheaton again started the spurt with a kill. Eddie Moushikhian followed with a kill and Sean Luhmann pulled King within one with a kill.
- Charleston then had a chance at set point, leading 24-21 when Moushikhian came up with a kill and brought Luhmann to the service line.
- Luhmann served up an ace and Jeff Sprayberry evened the tally at 24 with a kill. The Tornado then led 25-24 following the 4-0 run.
- Moushikhian and Adrian Besson the registered back-to-back kills, giving King the set 27-25 as they closed the frame on a 6-1 run.
- In the third set, King turned a 9-8 deficit into a 14-10 lead following a 6-1 run that featured three Sprayberry kills.
- King stretched their lead to 19-13 before they had to hold off a Charleston run. The Golden Eagles got back within 19-16 before Moushikhian came up with a kill.
- Wheaton later came up with a solo block, giving King a 23-17 lead and later ended the 25-18 victory with his 10th kill of the match.
- Sprayberry led the way with 11 kills, hitting .375.
- Wheaton posted 10 kills against one error on 14 attempts for an attack percentage of .643. He added seven blocks, including the one solo stuff.
- Moushikhian chipped in with nine kills and Drooker handed out 35 assists to go along with six digs.
- Luhmann led the defense with eight digs to go along with five.
FOR THE FOES
- Donovan Wilmott led Charleston with seven kills and Jacob Horwedel followed with six kills.
- Anthony Rivera handed out 13 assists and Brandon Greenway accounted for 12 assists.
- Rajahl Moxey led the way with eight defense.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- For the first time in program history the Tornado have started the season with back-to-back wins.
- Wheaton's attack percentage of .643 ranks second on King's all-time list behind Eric Glenn who hit .708 against California Baptist in 2012.
UP NEXT
- King next travels to take on 11th-ranked George Mason University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
- Charleston travels to take on Lees-McRae on Saturday.
