Four personal records fall at Conference Carolinas Relays

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University women's swimming and diving team opened their season at the Conference Carolinas Relay Meet hosted by Emmanuel College. The Tornado finished fourth and set four personal records in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Madison Wisley started her season with a big personal record in the first event, the 200 yard freestyle, coming in with a time of 2:13.89.
  • Wisely set another personal best time in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 30.81.
  • Nicole Maldonado also set a personal record in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 28.58.
  • Also in the 50 yard butterfly, Samantha Vargo set a personal record with a time of 28.19 seconds.
  • Rachel Fuller came close to a personal record with a 50 yard freestyle time of 29.96 seconds, coming within 0.5 seconds of her fastest time.
  • Maldonado finished second in the 100 yard freestyle, coming within one second of her personal record with a time of 54.96 seconds.
  • Fuller nearly set a personal record in the 100 yard backstroke, coming within 0.6 seconds with her time of 1:09.64.
  • The Tornado had two teams compete in the 200 freestyle relay with the first team of Maldonado, Jess Vargo, Fuller and Samantha Vargo finishing second with a time of 1:45.51.
  • The second relay team of Olivia Langford, Wisely, Haley Carpenter and Amanda Kusick finished in 2:00 75.

FOR THE FOES

  • Limestone College finished first with 526 points while Converse College finished second at 325.
  • Emmanuel College was third at 277.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Wisely's previous best 200 yard freestyle time was 2:19.88 and her previous best 50 yard butterfly time was 31.21 seconds.
  • Prior to Saturday, Maldonado's previous best 50 yard butterfly time was 29.01 seconds.
  • Samantha Vargo's previous best time in the 50 yard butterfly was 28.30 seconds.

UP NEXT

  • King will be in action again on October 16 at Milligan College and again on October 17 at Mars Hill University. The meet at Milligan is slated for 5:00 p.m.
