King defeats Ferrum, falls to Emory and Henry

ABINGDON, Va. – The King University women's swimming team looked to continue their winning ways when they traveled to Emory and Henry University to swim against the Wasps and Ferrum College. King went 1-1 defeating Ferrum 118-64 and falling to Emory and Henry 146-51.

The swimming began when the 200 meter medley team of Rachel Fuller, Samantha Vargo, Olivia Langford and Nicole Maldonado swam their way to a second place finish with a time of 2:14.75. Fuller kept the action going for King when she took a second place finish in the 800 meter freestyle, posting a 10:27.76. In the 200 IM, Vargo and Jade Schroeder came in fourth and fifth with times of 2:47.25 and 2:47.93.

Langford, looking to win the 200 meter freestyle, recorded a 2:24.32 giving her a third place finish. Maldonado came through with a win in the 50 meter freestyle by tallying a time of 28.03. Maldonado won again for the Tornado in the 100 meter freestyle, recording a 1:01.25. Finishing the day for King was the 200 meter freestyle relay team of Madison Wisley, Schroeder, Sarah Hennies and Koai Martin posting a 2:05.92, giving them a third place finish.

King will travel to Warren Wilson College on Friday, November 21st to swim against the Owls.
