Bristol, Tenn.- The King University women's volleyball team wrapped up the King Classic with a split on Saturday, falling to Saint Anselm in three tightly contested sets before rallying to defeat Emory & Henry in a five-set thriller at the Student Center Complex in Bristol, Tenn.
In the opener, King battled hard but came up short against Saint Anselm, dropping all three sets by narrow margins (21-25, 25-27, 25-27).
Cameron Martin led the Tornado with 16 kills on .538 hitting, while
Isabella Statzer added 9 kills and a .471 percentage. King finished with 46 assists and 68 digs in the loss.
The Tornado rebounded in the evening, outlasting Emory & Henry in five sets (21-25, 25-27, 25-19, 25-23, 15-11). Martin again paced the attack with 16 kills, while
Avery Schwieger posted a double-double with 15 kills and 17 points.
Isabella Statzer was a force at the net with 10 kills and 8 blocks, and
Ella Kiser distributed 32 assists. King racked up 62 kills and 90 digs in the win, closing out the match strong in the final two sets.
