King Men’s Golf Finishes Tied for Third at Conference Championship

King closed the conference championship with a strong final round, finishing tied for third after posting a 292 (+4) team score on the day. Standout performances led the Tornado from Nathan Hopley and Carter Myers, while senior Carles Calvo Molina capped his career with a memorable final walk.

Snow Hill, N.C. – The King University men's golf team closed out the conference championship with a strong final round performance, finishing tied for third place alongside Mount Olive with a three-day total of 883 (+19). The Tornado posted a 292 (+4) team score on the final day, one of their most consistent rounds of the tournament, to climb the leaderboard and secure a podium finish.

Leading the way for King was Nathan Hopley, who delivered the round of the day for the Tornado. Hopley fired a three-under 69 in the final round, highlighted by a steady front nine and a near-flawless back nine that featured multiple birdies. He finished the tournament at 221 (+5), capping off an impressive individual showing.

Carter Myers also turned in a strong performance to close the tournament, carding a one-under 71 on the final day. Myers finished at 220 (+4), demonstrating consistency throughout the week and providing a key boost to the team's final-round surge.

Vetle Saether added a 75 (+3) in the final round to finish at 223 (+7), while Carles Calvo Molina posted a 77 (+5) to conclude his tournament at 224 (+8). Garrett Wellman rounded out the scoring for King with a 77 (+5), finishing at 225 (+9 overall).

For Carles Calvo Molina, the final round carried added meaning. Competing in the final tournament of his King career, the senior shared a walk down the fairway with his coach on his closing holes — a moment that reflected both the significance of the occasion and the impact he has had on the program. His presence and leadership have been a steady force for the Tornado, and his final round marked the close of a meaningful collegiate career.

As a team, the Tornado showed resilience and composure down the stretch, putting together one of their best rounds of the tournament when it mattered most. Their final-round effort secured a top three finish and highlighted the group's ability to compete at a high level against conference competition.

With the season reaching its conclusion, King carries momentum from a strong championship showing and a lineup that continues to trend upward.
