Tornado Sit Fourth After Strong Second Round at Conference Championship

The King University men’s golf team concluded the second day of play at the Conference Carolinas Championship, posting a team score of 298 (+1) to put them in fourth position leading into the final day.

Snow Hill, N.C. – The King University men's golf team delivered a composed and consistent second-round performance on Monday at the Conference Carolinas Championship, posting a +1 team score to move to +15 overall. The Tornado sits in fourth place heading into Tuesday's final round at Cutter Creek Golf Course.

Playing a demanding 7,280-yard, par-72 layout, King relied on steady play across both nines to remain firmly in contention in a tightly packed field.

Senior Carles Calvo Molina led the way with one of the top rounds of the day, firing a 69 (-3). Competing in the final tournament of his collegiate career, Carles Calvo Molina was sharp from the start, going out in 34 and capitalizing on scoring opportunities on the par-5s before closing strong with a 35 on the back nine. His round moves him to +3 overall and into eighth place individually heading into Tuesday.

Carter Myers followed with an even-par 72, navigating the front nine in 35 and limiting mistakes across a challenging back stretch to post a 37 coming in. He sits 13th overall at +5.

Vetle Saether carded a 74 (+2), highlighted by steady play early before battling through the back nine. He is tied for ninth at +4 overall, alongside Garrett Wellman, who posted a 75 (+3) with a 36 on the front nine before encountering a tougher closing stretch.

Nathan Hopley added a 74 (+2), turning in a balanced round with a 36 on the front and 38 on the back to round out the Tornado scoring.

With all five players contributing and navigating the course's mix of long par-4s and scoring opportunities on the par-5s, King remains within striking distance of the lead. The Tornado will look to build on Monday's momentum in the final round, while Carles Calvo Molina prepares to take the course one final time in a King uniform.
