Bristol, Tenn. — King University Track & Field is set to host the 2nd Annual King University Multis Invitational this Friday and Saturday, bringing collegiate programs from across the region to the King Track & Field Complex for two days of multi-event and open-event competition. The meet serves as one of the Tornado's signature home events of the outdoor season and provides athletes with an early-spring opportunity to post qualifying marks and build momentum.

The invitational will feature full decathlon and heptathlon fields on Friday and Saturday, along with a complete lineup of field and running events throughout the two days. With a strong facility setup, organized meet operations, and a competitive field of entries, the weekend is expected to deliver high-quality performances across all disciplines.

Weather Procedures and Safety Protocols

With spring weather often unpredictable in the Appalachian region, meet officials have prepared clear procedures to ensure the safety of athletes, coaches, and spectators. In the event of lightning, an announcement will direct everyone to leave the track immediately and seek shelter in vehicles, buses, the Nicewonder building behind the 100-meter start line, or the SCC at the bottom of the hill. Competition will pause until the lightning has passed and conditions are safe to resume.

Similarly, if general severe weather approaches, officials will instruct all individuals to clear the track and take cover in the same designated areas. These procedures are in place to maintain a safe environment and minimize delays while ensuring the meet can continue once conditions improve.

Friday: Multis Begin the Weekend

Friday's schedule will open with the first five events of the men's decathlon and the first four events of the women's heptathlon. The hammer throw and men's javelin will also take place during the morning session. Athletes will move through sprints, jumps, and throws as they begin their two-day multi-event totals, with several returning competitors expected to challenge early-season personal bests.

King will also recognize its Senior Class of 2026 on Friday afternoon during a ceremony on the home straightaway.

Saturday: Full Event Slate

Saturday will feature a complete lineup of field and track events, beginning with early-morning weigh-ins for the throws. The shot put, discus, and javelin will run throughout the morning, while long jump, triple jump, pole vault, and high jump will take place on the infield and jump aprons.

On the track, athletes will compete in sprints, hurdles, mid-distance, and distance events, with Trojan Timing providing live results throughout the day. The King Track & Field Complex — featuring an eight-lane Beynon surface, multi-directional jump runways, and a dedicated throws area — offers an ideal setting for early-season marks.

Meet Operations and Athlete Services

Team camp areas will be located along the main straightaway, and athletic trainers will be on site beginning at 8:30 a.m. each day. Portable restrooms will be available around the facility, and concessions will open at noon near the baseball and softball fields.

Spike check, athlete check-in, and field event procedures will follow standard collegiate meet protocols to ensure smooth transitions between events.
