Bristol, Tenn.– The King University Women's Wrestling team hosts the Tornado Open with first-place wins at 110 with
Avery Kibelbek, 124 with
Virginia Foard, 138 with
Ruby Julien-Newsom, and at 160 with
Stella Steigler.
Kibelbek competed in the round robin style bracket today with wins by pin, tech fall, and forfeit to earn the victory at 110.
Foard started today with a bye, then hit the match running with two tech falls in her first two bouts, winning both matches in 42 seconds and 1:08, respectively, with a decision victory in a close bout, winning 7-3 to take home the gold.
Julien-Newsom's began with a decision win with an 8-7 score. Then she went on to round two and three with a pin and a tech fall, which led her to the finals, where she won by tech fall in 2:08.
Steigler opened today's tournament with a victory by pin in 1:36. She continued to dominate in the 160-pound weight class with a quarterfinal win by tech fall and a huge semifinal win by pin in 38 seconds. She went on to take first by a decision victory of 5-0.
