Drury wins title at 65 kilograms at US Open

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Aine Drury of the King University women's wrestling team won the title at 65 kilograms at the US Open Friday, earning an automatic bid to Final X, which will determine who represents the United States at the 2025 Senior World Championships in September.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Drury went undefeated at 65 kilograms, starting with a 11-0 win before pinning Gabriella Perez in 17 seconds in the quarterfinals.
  • After pinning Jennifer Page in the semifinals, Drury won an 8-7 decision over Isabella Mir in the championship match.
  • Ana Luciano finished fifth at 65 kilograms, winning her first match via technical fall before dropping her quarterfinal match.
  • She then won three of her next four matches, including wins via pin over Josselinne Campos and Marilyn Garcia to finish fifth.
  • At 57 kilograms, Virginia Foard finished seventh, winning her first match 10-0 before dropping her quarterfinal match.
  • She won a 9-6 decision over Bella Williams, before a 13-3 win in the seventh-place match over Gabrielle Weyhrich.
  • Melanie Mendoza finished seventh at 53 kilograms, winning her first match via fall before a 13-2 loss in the quarterfinals.
  • She then won 6-0 in the wrestleback bracket before taking seventh.
  • At 59 kilograms, Anna DiCugno won her first match via pin before a 7-0 loss in the quarterfinals.
  • She then won via pin in the wrestleback, dropping her final two matches to take eighth.
  • Chey Bowman finished eighth at 76 kilograms, winning her first two matches, including a first round win via pin over Shanaria Killebrew. She went on to finish eighth.
  • At 53 kilograms, Gracie Figueroa had a win in her first match before a medical forfeit ended her tournament.
