QUERETARO, Mexico –
Montana DeLawder of the King University women's wrestling team won the gold medal at the 2025 U23 Pan American Championships, one of four Team USA athletes to win gold at the event. Team USA finished with nine of 10 athletes on the podium.
DeLawder, competing at 55 kilograms, went undefeated in the round robin bracket. She started with a 1:03 pin of Josefina Ramirez Duarte of Mexico before taking a win by injury default in the second round. Her final match was an 8-0 win over Canada's Sophia Bechard.
Team USA as a whole dominated the competition, winning the team competition be over 30 points. Among the coaches was 2024 Olympic gold medalist and former King University women's wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt.
